Salary Survey
Storm Recruitment carried out a comprehensive employment market survey over Q4 in 2010. The phone survey was conducted to over 200 businesses in the Wicklow and South Dublin area. The businesses surveyed were a mix of small and medium firms ranging across all industries and were directed to HR /Finance Depts and Manager/Owners.
The general strategy amongst most companies will be to sit tight for the next 12 months and plan to make no major changes to their workforce.
The industries that have seen the most decline in workforce have been the Food industry, Property, Construction and the Financial Services sector. The areas that will see some increase in recruitment for 2011, will be in the medical and engineering sectors.
Off those companies that are currently recruiting, Engineering tops the list as the sector that most companies find it increasingly difficult to recruit trained and experienced engineers. This is followed by Sales and then Accountancy staff.
In 2010, Sales as per the trend had the highest turnover in most companies. This would be the norm in comparison to the past 5 years.
The overall feeling among the companies was to wait and see what budgets would be given for recruitment in 2009 and hope that by the end of Q1, the market would start to improve.
We would like to thank all the companies in Wicklow and South Dublin who took part and to the Greystones Chamber of commerce for all their support.
